-let's practise how to join new balls of yarn
In this section, practise how to join a new ball of yarn so that you can start a new ball and continue knitting.
The technique for joining in a new ball of yarn is the same for joining yarn of the same colour or yarn of a different colour, so practise in a different colour and learn how to knit stripes.
Garter Stitch stripes

Cast on 20 stitches
Row 1 - 4: Using Colour A, Knit.
Cut yarn leaving tail 20cm
Row 5 - 8: Join colour B, Knit .
Cut yarn leaving tail approx 20cm.
Repeat Rows 1 - 8, 4 times, (40 rows in total and 5 stripes in
each colour)
Cast Off in Colour B.
Tidy up loose ends. Make a label
Stocking Stitch stripes

Cast on 20 stitches
Row 1: Using Colour A, Knit.
Row 2: Using Colour A, Purl.
Continue in stocking stitch for 2 more rows.
Cut yarn leaving tail approx 20cm.
Row 5: Join colour B, Knit
Using colour B, work another 3 rows in stocking stitch.
Cut yarn leaving tail approx 20cm
Repeat Rows 1 - 8, 4 times, (32 rows in total and 4 stripes in each
colour).
Cast Off in Colour B.
Tidy up loose ends. Make a label
