Learn how to hold the right hand knitting needle and the left hand knitting needle.  There are alternative ways to hold the right hand knitting needle but I recommend this way for beginners. This allows you to develop a fluid and efficient technique and from experience, beginners quickly master this method. You can experiment with the other ways after you have got the hang of knitting to see if you have a preference.
